HOW IT ALL WORKS Following your inquiry, you will receive our quotation in writing confirming our rates as well as our services and what is and what is not included. After you receive your quotation from DELIVER USA and you wish to proceed, please complete the confirmation letter and let us know your preferred packing dates. We will confirm the packing date and mail the necessary customs forms and insurance proposal to you by return. Feel free to contact our office at any time to help you in completing the paperwork or to discuss any questions that you may have regarding your relocation. With our in depth knowledge and experience in this market you’ll be surprised at what we know! On the day of packing, try and relax. The crews know what they are doing and you will find them friendly and helpful. Make sure the items you are taking with you including your money, passports suitcases etc. are put somewhere safe, ideally in a separate room away from everyone else so there is no risk of these being packed. The first and very important step in protecting your shipment for the trip is proper packing. All packing materials and cartons will be new. All china, glass and crystal will be individually wrapped prior to packing. All cartons will be taped across the top, bottom and sides. All rugs and carpets will be rolled and wrapped. Your name, room and contents will be marked on each carton. All items that are not suitable to be packed into cartons e.g. the furniture will be wrapped in craft paper or bubble wrap. For additional protection, some fragile items may be double wrapped or enclosed in cardboard. Specialized materials used include paper, tissue, bubble pack, flow chips, hanging wardrobe boxes, picture cartons and skeleton or solid wood crates if needed. Providing the items are packed and loaded properly, there should be no damage after your goods travel half way round the world. Please do not choose a second rate packing company or pack your own breakable items unless you have the proper materials and experience. Make sure the crew have packed and collected everything you needed to go before they leave your residence. Depending on the mode and specification of your move, your shipment will then go either to our warehouse for further crating and loading into a shipping container or travel direct to the air or seaport. As soon as you arrive at your destination,
please contact our liaison agent so that we know where you are and can
liaise with you to arrange customs clearance and delivery. Make a list of things you need to do and people you will need to send change of address cards to. Don’t forget to notify your bank, mortgage provider, IRS, Doctor and Dentist as well as your friends and family. Check on airline flights, hotel accommodation and hire cars for prices and availability. Time for a sort out. No point taking things you will never use. Discard carefully any household paint, aerosol cans, flammable and toxic chemical items and oil. Make an area for items that you are taking with you. Good idea apart from the obvious clothes, passport, driving license is a kitchen knife, kitchen roll, first aid kit, cork screw, bin bags, some toys and books for children, battery alarm clock, screwdriver, wet wipes, sweets, plastic plates, utensils and glasses, jewelry, stock certificates, wills, birth certificates, medication. School, doctor and dentist records and take a couple of passport size photo’s with you. Pack your suitcases! Return library books, video tapes and any other borrowed items and get anything back you have lent others. Drain oil and petrol from any lawnmowers or tools. Drain the garden hose if that’s going too and drain the gas tank of the BBQ. Plan meals that use up your freezer. Empty, defrost and clean your refrigerator and freezer and clean your stove if they are going with you or into storage at least 24 hours before moving to let them dry out and use baking soda to get rid of odors. If you have any original cartons for Stereo’s, TV’s or Computers, please re pack the appliances providing you still have the polystyrene bits for protection. Notify and cancel car and medical insurance policies, mobile phone agreements, internet provider, credit cards and bank accounts. If you have a private pension or savings schemes then it would be a good idea to contact your financial adviser to discuss your requirements and tax implications. Think about what to do with any pets. Dogs and cats can be flown overseas with relative ease but remember they will have to do 6 months quarantine if they are going to England. Don’t get your phone disconnected until the day after packing is finished. You will probably need this day even if you spent the night in a hotel, to clean the house and make any final calls. Your children will probably want to help. We appreciate the thought, but if possible, it’s a good idea to get them to visit a nearby friend or have someone dedicated to supervising them. Borrow some bedding for the night before moving or book into a hotel so that your bedding can be washed and dried and ready for packing. Have a box packed with all your urgent things that can be loaded last so that it comes off first. Mark all sides of the carton with a X so that it is easily recognizable. Don’t forget to pay the moving company ! Relax ! You have already done all the work. Sit back and watch us work. Be in charge of making the tea ! Make sure you are there at the end and check the house to make sure they have everything before you say good by to the crew. Make sure all windows are shut and turn off the utilities if the house will be empty for a while. If the voltage is different where you are going, there is no point in taking your electric iron, kettle, microwave, mixer, coffee maker, telephone, radio alarm clocks, most lamps, drill, vacuum cleaner unless you want to store them with you until you come back. It is sometimes worth taking a TV and VCR although it may not pick up local TV stations where you are going, you will still be able to play your video tapes. Do not take any bottles, containers or jars that have been opened. Do not take anything that is hazardous, flammable or explosive. Do not take any alcohol as this will cause delays and additional expense in clearing customs as well as tax and duty to be paid on the items. You are not allowed to take any food items, however if the odd jar of your favorite stuff is put in with other kitchen items then no one will know ! Do not take any firearms, alcohol, medicine, pornographic or politically sensitive material, hazardous materials including paint, matches, aerosol cans and gas canisters, explosive and corrosive material. |
